Random Short Ends: Geek Edition
– Images of the cast of the new “G.I.Joe” live-action feature have been posted and then recalled by the studio. We don’t really give a shit, but we’re putting them up to see if anyone will even notice. [WWTDD]
ComicCon happened in New York this past weekend and tons of nerdlingers played hooky on Friday so they could get a peek at vaginal-drying dorkiness. The biggest winner turned out to the “The Incredible Hulk,” which had suffered tons of pre-release negative press, but is hoping to bounce back with great word of mouth from the loser convention. No babies were conceived at Comicon either, but one guy did get to second base (over the bra though, but still!) [IO9]
Though note: Premiere are the prime dissenters here. They called the ‘Hulk’ presentation “dissappointing” and wrote, “At another point [producer Gale Anne Hurd] blurted out to the crowd something to the effect of: “You wanted more Hulk smash, we’re giving you more Hulk smash!” It seemed to substantiate the notion that this film is nothing more than a corporate-mandated cash grab.” [Premiere]
– Producer Joel Silver says the Justice League film has been “tabled.” I.e., no geeks will have to suffer the indignity of watching this poorly-rushed idea hitting the bigscreen. File it under terrible silver screen comic book ideas like Superman Vs. Batman and “Alien Vs. Predator.” Oh wait, that last one actually got produced. [CHUD]
However, a new Wonder Woman script is in the works. Silver says he has new monkeys banging it out as we speak. Somewhere in the greater Los Angeles area Joss Whedon is crying. [IESB]
– Michael Bay says actually, you know jackshit about the plot of “Transformers 2,” psyche! [SlashFilm]
– Frank Miller is in talks to adapt his own graphic novel, “Hard Boiled.” His people have to call his people to set up a lunch first.[MTV]
