Got a Tip?

Listen: Single From Spike Jonze’s ‘I’m Here’ Short Film, “There Are Many Of Us” Featuring Nick Zinner Of The Yeah, Yeah Yeahs & RHCP’s Flea

Earlier this week we reported on the soundtrack to “I’m Here,” Spike Jonze’s lovely 30-minute robot love-story short film starring Andrew Garfield (the new “Spider-Man”). We first saw it at SXSW earlier this year, and many of us have caught up with it since. It’s a sweet, lens-flared crushed-out and forlorn look at relationships via two broken and damaged robots (literally and figuratively) and it’s quite beautiful.

The soundtrack is appropriately crestfallen, especially the de facto single, “There Are Many Of Us” by The Lost Trees which you heard in the trailer months ago. Only The Lost Trees are the name of the band in the film and the musician behind the song is actually solo artist ASKA (who also plays in the Moonrats and The Sads), with help from Nick Zinner of the Yeah Yeah Yeahs and ex-Red Hot Chili Peppers bassist Flea (RHCP seems to have finally called it quits, he’s got a better gig in Thom Yorke’s new band). The song is appropriately lullaby-esque, gentle and sweet. The soundtrack to “I’m Here” hits October 5th via Chocolate Industries. Is the film ever getting a proper DVD release? Last we heard on that front, IFC was going to release it, but we’re not sure where that netted out, Maybe it just doesn’t make sense anymore since you’ve been able to watch the entire film online for months now.
