Got a Tip?

‘The Avengers’ Assemble For A Batch Of Much Improved New Images

nullSo "The Hunger Games" opened to $155 million this weekend, and will likely be one of the biggest box office hits of the year, but what film coming up will be able to match its numbers when the final tally is counted? There are quite a few contenders, ranging from "Breaking Dawn – Part 2" to "The Dark Knight Rises," but first up is Joss Whedon's "The Avengers." "Iron Man 2" opened to just shy of $130 million on his own two years ago…and this time he has a Hulk.

Whether the superhero movie can crack the super-huge numbers at the box office needed to capture the same wads of cash as Gary Ross' effort (and erase the memory of "Jerrrn Cerrrter" for troubled Disney) likely depends on the strength of the marketing. And while the trailers have been pretty good so far, the images that we've been drip-fed haven't been all that memorable. Happily, though, we can report that the latest batch of images are a vast improvement on what's come before.

Again, they're mostly just shots of our heroes standing around, but there's something a lot cooler about them than the previous efforts. Mostly the characters are just looking stern-faced at something out of shot, but there's also Mark Ruffalo's Bruce Banner flashing an out of character cheesy grin. The best two though are of Tom Hiddleston's Loki, looking like he's just arrived back on Earth, and of Chris Evans' Captain America in a gorgeous smokey shot standing amongst the post-battle wreckage. Oh, and if you look closely behind Thor you might also catch a glimpse of Cobie Smulders' Maria Hill – she's totally in this movie. Marvel's Avengers Assemble on the big screen on in the U.K. on April 26th and in the U.S. on May 4th. [via Collider]nullnullnullnullnullnullnullnullnullnull
