Things are looking very promising for Wes Anderson's "Moonrise Kingdom." The director's return to live action filmmaking after the detour into animation with the delightful "Fantastic Mr. Fox," has already impressed with its first trailer that, while clearly being from somewhere very firmly within his usual wheelhouse, looks to be endearingly fresh and vibrant. It seems as if Anderson's directorial voice has been reborn. With a spring date looming, a few new pictures have dropped to tide you over until 'Kingdom' 's release.
Empire has the latest snaps which give us a closer look at Bruce Willis, Edward Norton and Tilda Swinton, along with the two leads, the young kids played by Jared Gilman and Kara Hayward. In case you're playing catch-up, the story is set in '60s New England, and follows a young boy and young girl who fall in love and run away together, turning their small town upside down in the process. Norton is a scout troupe leader, Swinton is some kind of church related figure while Willis is the town sheriff who leads the hunt for the kids.
Anyway, you can check 'em out above and below. "Moonrise Kingdom" opens on May 25th and fingers crossed that it hits Cannes.
