It’s been a while since filmmaker Edgar Wright released a film, giving us “The World’s End” all the way back in 2013. No doubt this was due to Wright’s merry-go-round with Marvel and “Ant-Man,” which ended with the director leaving the project. Clearly it took up a few years of his life, all told. Regardless, Wright has more than moved on, putting together “Baby Driver,” which sounds like an action-packed movie that pushes the director’s comedic and musical qualities right to the limit.

Set to make its world premiere at the 2017 SXSW Film Festival, the movie features a terrific cast too, including Ansel Elgort, Kevin Spacey, Lily James, Jon Bernthal, Eiza González, Jon Hamm, and Jamie Foxx. Here’s the official synopsis:
A talented, young getaway driver (Ansel Elgort) relies on the beat of his personal soundtrack to be the best in the game. But after being coerced into working for a crime boss (Kevin Spacey), he must face the music when a doomed heist threatens his life, love and freedom.
Knowing Wright and his penchant for the use of music in film, it’s a good bet “Baby Driver” is going to have a kick-ass soundtrack. He in fact once said he wanted to make a full-blown musical and “Baby Driver” was a project he would try to borrow elements from the genre that’s taken off of late thanks to “La La Land.”
“Baby Driver” opens on August 11th.
