“Enter a universe where more than one wears the mask,” was the tagline for the teaser of “Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse.” The teaser debuted back in December. And now we get the full-length trailer for fans of comic book character favorite, Miles Morales. It’s a whole different world than what fans of the Marvel franchise have come to know. It’s an animated film, but still carries a dark tone to it.

The story still follows the same lines of Peter Parker’s. It’s a kid fighting crime in the world of adults. All the while dealing with the same struggles of being a teenager. Familiar names as of late tied to the film are Phil Lord and Christopher Miller, with Lord as screenwriter and Miller as producer. The pair has worked together on “The Lego Movie,” “21 Jumps Street,” and “22 Jump Street.”
They were for a time tied to “Solo: A Star Wars Story.” Then director Ron Howard replaced the filmmakers. The cast includes Liev Schreiber, Mahershala Ali, and Shameik Moore as Miles. Moore starred in the critically acclaimed, independent film “Dope” in 2015. And had a role on the short-lived Netflix series “The Get Down.”
Sony is the major company releasing the film with Columbia Pictures. And it seems like there’s every intention of making this an event right in the middle of the holidays. Not to mention the thick of awards season predictions.
Here’s the official synopsis:
The animated “Spider-Man” film is set to be released December 14, 2018.
