‘Homecoming’ Trailer: Go Behind The Scenes Of Beyoncé’s 2018 Coachella Performance In New Netflix Doc

After the massive hit that was the film “Lemonade” back in 2016, Beyoncé is clearly someone that is interested in releasing visual work as much as her musical output. And it looks like she’s doing it again, this time with a new concert film for Netflix.

In the first trailer for “Homecoming,” it’s clear that the film is more than just your run-of-the-mill concert film. Typical entries in this genre act as glorified commercials for the artist, showing just how much fun it is to be a rock star and how much these musicians truly love their fans. At least, that’s the idea. “Homecoming” doesn’t appear to be a somber affair, and will likely have a lot of that sort of joy, but will clearly attempt to be more than just a concert film, with the heavy voiceover, the interesting/retro style, and the fact that it’s about Beyoncé, who is not one to do anything typical.

The film is said to be an “intimate look” at the 2018 Coachella performance from Beyoncé, which paid homage to America’s historically black colleges and universities. In addition to the concert footage, there will be plenty of behind-the-scenes goodies for those that want to see how the show was put together, as well as interviews with Beyoncé and those who worked with her to bring the vision to life.

Basically, if you’re a fan of Beyoncé, you’re going to want to check this out.

“Homecoming” arrives on Netflix on April 17.

Here’s the synopsis:

Homecoming presents an intimate look at Beyoncé’s historic 2018 Coachella performance that paid homage to America’s historically black colleges and universities. Interspersed with candid footage and interviews detailing the preparation and powerful intent behind her vision, Homecoming traces the emotional road from creative concept to cultural movement.
