Leonardo DiCaprio isn’t just one of the biggest actors in the world. He’s actually actively trying to save the planet. No, not like those Marvel heroes, but as one of the biggest names in environmentalism. And when he’s not out there starring in the latest Quentin Tarantino film, the actor is using his clout to produce docs on how we can save our planet, like “Ice on Fire.”
As seen in the first trailer for “Ice on Fire,” which will premiere next month on HBO, DiCaprio produces and narrates a doc that attempts to educate the population on how we can use science and technology to not only prevent climate change but maybe even reverse the negative effects we’ve already had on the environment. Sure, there’s plenty of that super scary, end of the world business that is featured in most of these climate change documentaries, but there’s also tons of hope shown that maybe we haven’t completely screwed up Earth just yet.
“Ice on Fire” has been selected to screen at this year’s Cannes Film Festival, alongside another DiCaprio doc with a similar message. The doc is directed by Leila Conners, who has a long history in documentary film, and is probably best known for her work on films like “We the People 2.0” and “The 11th Hour.”
“Ice on Fire” will premiere on HBO on June 11.
