“The Boys” was one of the biggest comicbook surprises of last year — a TV show that exposed the darkness and violence of superpowered individuals, as well as giant megacorporations that have their hands on every industry in the world and treat heroes as products.

The show is now finally back for season 2, with Amazon Prime Video releasing the first clip of the new season, as well as a promo announcing the September release date for the new episodes. New this year is that “The Boys” will be released weekly instead of all at once.
The clip introduces Stormfront (Aya Cash), the newest member of The Seven, the main villains of the show and the biggest superheroes on Earth that lost nearly half their ranks last season. Stormfront is a social media-savvy superhero who has her own agenda, and becomes an instant rival to The Seven’s leader, when the two meet.
Additionally, Amazon Prime Video announced that the show will release the first three episodes of the second season at once, on September 4, before airing the rest of the episodes weekly. “We wanted to give you time to freak out, digest, discuss, come down from the high, before we give you another dose,” creator and executive producer Erik Kripke said in a statement.
This change to a weekly schedule is an interesting one, as “The Boys” was one of the most successful debuts for an Amazon Original series ever. It seems like Amazon is hoping for a similar word-of-mouth success in its second season as “The Mandalorian” had last year, when Baby Yoda became the biggest thing in the world, even if the show was only available in the U.S.
“The Boys” premieres on Amazon Prime Video on September 4, 2020.
