Got a Tip?

‘Fast & Furious’ To End With 2 More Films Directed By Justin Lin

All good things must come to an end. Or as Dominic Toretto might say, “Quarter miles don’t last forever…family…Brian…ten-second car…muscles” I don’t know, I haven’t seen a ‘Fast & Furious’ film since “Fast 5” and just watched the trailers for the other four. But what I do know is that the ‘Fast & Furious’ franchise, which started 20 years ago, does have an expiration date and that’s approaching faster than a bright orange, pseudo sports car packed with NOS.

According to Deadline, Universal is said to be wrapping up the “Fast & Furious” franchise (the main franchise, to be more specific) with two more sequels, the tenth and eleventh films of the series. And if you’re a fan of the current direction of those features, you’ll be happy to know that filmmaker Justin Lin is in talks to helm both films and put a cap on the long-running, muscle-filled action franchise.

We’re currently waiting on “F9,” the ninth film in the ‘Fast’ series, to arrive next year. That film looks to take what started as a humble street-racing “Point Break” rip-off and finally send it to space, if Ludacris and Michelle Rodriguez are to be believed. So, where can Dom and his “family” go next? Do you actually think you can speculate this sort of bonkers situation? Fine, let’s give it a whirl.

How about ‘Fast 10’ actually is called “Fast & Furious To The Future” finds Dom in possession of a Delorean that when it hits 88 mph, it can travel through time? Maybe he’ll have to go back to when his parents first met and convince them to hook up so that he can save his own family in the future? Then in “Fast 11: Endgame,” they meet up with a wizard in New York City that has the ability (thanks to some mysterious cosmic, uh, stones…with infinite power) to travel between dimensions and visit the multiverse? There we could see all sorts of actors playing Dom. And maybe, just maybe, we could end the franchise with Dom and Multiverse Brian racing one last time?

Again, the report claims this is just the end of “Fast & Furious” as a series, not as a franchise. Whatever Dwayne Johnson and Jason Statham are doing with “Hobbs & Shaw” will likely continue, as will the various spinoffs that are constantly being teased.

We’ll likely have a clue where the final two chapters of “Fast & Furious” are going when “F9” finally hits theaters in April.
