The Snyder Cut is coming. In fact, there was a trailer for Zack Snyder’s new version of “Justice League” that was released today. But the confusion and speculation about what the film-turned-miniseries is going to lead to is still a debate amongst fans. Is this a one-time deal that just allows a filmmaker to finish his vision or does this signal the beginning of a revamped Snyderverse? Well, according to the man himself, it’s likely more of the former than the latter.
Speaking to Ping Pong Flix (via MovieWeb), Zack Snyder discussed the idea of a continuation of his “Justice League” story. For those not aware, when the filmmaker was working on the feature, he envisioned this as part one of a two-part story with the finale being a huge battle with the DC superheroes and Darkseid. Well, that plan got changed when he departed the project and Joss Whedon took over. So, will he use this $70 million budget for the Snyder Cut to tell his complete story or does he plan on future films? The answer isn’t probably want fans were hoping to hear
“I don’t have any expectation that there would be more movies than this. If that happened, that would be amazing — but that bridge is far away. Frankly I’m cool.”
But what about Part 2 of the story? Will fans ever know what happens after the Snyder Cut ends? Considering the feature is only going to tell part of the story, does Zack Snyder have any plans to let fans know what the conclusion is? Unfortunately, no.
“It’s a fair question to ask me, you know, like what do I say to the world about, you know, what happens when Darkseid comes to Earth? Then what? You know, Is that a thing?” said Snyder. :And I think, listen, the truth is that, did I write and did I have and conceive a complete- do I know what happens when Darkseid… yes. I do know what happens. To say and to speculate about what that is and that that would be exciting, I think that’s a fine thing.”
So, there you have it fans. Snyder is cool with you guys speculating for years about what might have been. Regardless if this is the answer people were hoping for, at least they’ll have the Snyder Cut. Before that, everything was a “What if?” Now, Snyder’s faithful will have, at the very minimum, the first half of the epic story. And that’s better than nothing, right?
“Zack Snyder’s Justice League” is expected to arrive in the first half of 2021.
