Contrary to reports, Carey Mulligan has denied any link to John Madden’s upcoming remake of the classic 1964 musical “My Fair Lady.”
The actress reportedly became the project’s number one target ahead of Gemma Arteton and Emily Blunt after producers turned their attentions to English talent despite links to Scarlett Johansson and Anne Hathaway. However, when recently asked about the rumors, Mulligan set the record straight.
“No,” she responded with evident sadness. “It would be lovely but, no, [the rumors are] not true.”
The remake was scribed by Emma Thompson and went through a handful of talent including Joe Wright and Danny Boyle before landing with Madden, who remains without a leading lady.
Brit Playlister Oli also informs us that Mulligan was circling the upcoming adaptation of “Wuthering Heights” around the same Andrea Arnold came on board though it’s not known what transpired. Arnold is now helming the pic and casting unknowns in the lead roles for an April shoot.
