‘Good Sex’: Mark Ruffalo & ROLE MODEL Join Natalie Portman In Lena Dunham Netflix Rom-Com

Oscar-winning actress Natalie Portman (“Black Swan”) and director Lena Dunham (“Catherine Called Birdy”) are teaming on a new romantic comedy called “Good Sex,” and there is a pretty decent casting update to share.

The latest additions to “Good Sex,” according to The Hollywood Reporter, are Mark Ruffalo and musican Tucker Pillsbury (known as ROLE MODEL), as the pair have joined the upcoming Netflix pic focusing on Portman’s Ally, a successful professional woman in her 40s that is forced back into the world of dating after a decade in a failed relationship and gets into a steaming fling with a 20s-something hipster.

A synopsis for “Good Sex” from Netflix:

“After spending a decade in a failed relationship, successful couples’ therapist Ally (Portman) is turning 40 and is pushed, kicking and screaming, by her best friend back into the hopeless New York dating scene. But Ally finds her life pulled in opposing directions as she falls into a steamy fling with a 20-something Brooklyn hipster just as she begins a promising, more conventional relationship with Alan, a successful 50-something in Manhattan. As a romantic crossroads blossoms into a full-blown identity crisis, Ally juggles to keep these two very different men separate and to make sense of her own conflicting desires before she risks losing them both.

Ruffalo has been busy lately with outings such as the Oscar-winning sci-fi sex comedy “Poor Things,” playing a fascist political leader in Bong Joon-ho‘s “Mickey 17,” gearing up to reprise the Bruce Banner/Hulk role in “Avengers: Doomsday,” returns for Lionsgate‘s “Now You See Me: Now You Don’t,” the Don Winslow novel adaptation “Crime 101” starring opposite Chris Hemsworth and Halle Berry, along with the new HBO crime miniseries “Task” from Brad Ingelsby (“Mare of Easttown”)

This marks the third big feature directorial attempt from Dunham after “Sharp Stick” and the period film, “Catharine Called Birdy,” led by Bella Ramsey (“The Last of Us”). Given that “Good Sex” already has Portman and Ruffalo in the cast, we are expecting other relatively big names to board the rom-com in supporting or cameo roles.
