There was a bit of a viral moment from the red carpet at the premiere of “Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning” as Michael B. Jordan embraced Tom Cruise saying “I wasn’t missing this shit.” This comes after Cruise went out of his way to post on social media back in late April that he was attending a screening of “Sinners,” promoting the genre-bending horror pic.
Seeing the two actors supporting each other doesn’t seem all that shocking after some recent Entertainment Tonight quotes from Cruise on the red carpet praising Jordan and the state of modern stars in Hollywood after they suggested he was the “last great movie star.”
“I don’t want to be,” Cruise said of the notion of the end of movie stars and being the last great one. “There’s so many other talented actors out there, and I want to see them crush it.”
When Jordan’s name came up alongside that meet up at the U.K. premiere, Cruise wasn’t holding back his praise, “That guy is so talented…that movie ‘Sinners’ is amazing…I’m a huge fan of his.” Adding the tantalizing tease about a future link-up with Jordan in the future, “We’re going to make a movie together, that’s what we want.”
It’s hard not to be a little bit excited by the prospect of Cruise and Jordan joining forces in the future, but that is only a hypothetical, as we don’t know when and for what.
Cruise is gearing up for Doug Liman‘s supernatural blockbuster “Deeper” that has Ana de Armas (“Ballerina”) circling a key role as a bidding war is underway and Amazon MGM Studios is said to be a frontrunner (Jordan’s projects at that studio include “Thomas Crown Affair,” “Creed III,” and “Rainbow Six“).
There are also a bunch of other projects gestating with longtime creative partner/director Christopher McQuarrie (“Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning”), and he has another Liman film in mind that could see him filming in space with the help of SpaceX.

Congratulations Ryan, Michael, and to the entire cast and crew. Must see in a cinema and stay through the end credits! pic.twitter.com/rQ54y74j2e
