Canadian actors Hudson Williams (“Heated Rivalry”) and Carrie-Anne Moss (“The Matrix” trilogy) topline an impressive new AMC+ series, “Yaga,” which heads to the streaming service this October after a new trailer dropped online this weekend. It also co-stars Noah Reid, Clark Backo, Sheila McCarthy, Megan Follows, Ezra Franky, Patrick Gilmore, Katharine Isabelle, and Hiro Kanagawa, along with Emilija Baranac, Georgia Acken, Anisa Harris, and Sam Krochmal.

Kat Sandler is the creator/showrunner of the Canadian-made series and adapted her own hit play of the same name, which is directly inspired by Eastern European lore about the Baba Yaga, a witch-like creature that has been explored in video games like “The Witcher” and comic books such as “Hellboy.”
“Yaga” follows Rapp (Reid), a private investigator who arrives in a small coastal town to investigate the disappearance of a young heir to a powerful fishery, Henry Park (Williams). He finds himself at odds with an apprehensive local detective, Carson (Backo), a charismatic university professor with a taste for younger men, Katherine (Moss), and a labyrinth of enigmatic suspects, secret lives, and ancient magic.
It is also co-directed by David Frazee (“Orphan Black,” “Vikings”) and Rachel Talalay (“Doctor Who,” “Tank Girl”), with executive producers Mackenzie Donaldson, Andrew Miller, and Moss, alongside producer Charles Cooper.
“Yaga” debuts on AMC+ and is also a Crave Original (the Bell Media-owned Canadian streaming home of “Heated Rivalry”). The new genre series is produced by Blink49 Studios and Front Street Pictures in partnership with the aforementioned Crave. You can watch that new trailer below.
