Sony Classic Pictures Purchase Rights To ‘Soul Power’ Documentary

The Jeffrey Levy-Hinte directed documentary, “Soul Power” has recently had its North American distribution rights picked up by Sony Classic Pictures. It premiered at this years Toronto International Film Festival, but was not picked until recently.

The R&B music festival featured numerous legendary artists like James Brown, B.B. King, and Bill Withers, but was quickly forgotten in the years following the festival. The film is Levy-Hinte’s directorial debut, but he has produced such films as “Thirteen” and last years documentary on the most controversial director in recent years “Roman Polanski: Wanted and Desired.” He also edited the aforementioned critically acclaimed documentary dealing with the Zaire Ali-Foreman fight.
