Got a Tip?

Daniel Craig Says Economic Collapse May Keep More Bond Films Out Of Production

Today we heard via Cinema Blend that the star of “Quantum of Solace,” Daniel Craig, is not exactly optimistic about the chances of another Bond film being made anytime soon. Craig believes that due to the fact that many will be feasting on leather come Christmas, no financier is going to be willing to shell out for another installment in the bond franchise.

When talking to Britain’s Daily Mirror, Craig said, “As far as the next film is concerned, there is nothing scheduled. Economically the world is in quite a lot of trouble, so who knows if we can afford to do another Bond movie any time soon?”

It may be true that in the tough times to come, studios are going to think twice before spending over $150 million to make a movie, but what about the massive profit machines this franchise has become? “Casino Royale” pulled in upwards of $400 million and “Quantum of Solace” is sure to at least match those numbers, and what would be better between bread lines than a James Bond film?

It is also interesting to note that director Marc Forster, who will not return to direct another Bond film, took out the original ending for ‘Quantum’ closing the film on a more ambiguous note, and therefore leaving the next director with the option of taking the film where ever they would like.
