For some, space dreams are a very real thing, symbolizing achieving one of the most impossible heights a human can reach in this lifetime. That’s the story of “A Million Miles Away” with a bit of a twist. The film is the true inspirational story of Jose Hernandez, a man with a dream to reach the stars, played by Michael Peña and directed by Alejandra Marquez. But Hernandez was no ordinary man and had to face even greater obstacles. He was the first migrant farmworker to become an astronaut and go to space.

“A Million Miles Away” is directed by award-winning filmmaker Alejandra Márquez Abella known for “Northern Skies Over Empty Space,” “The Good Girls” and stars Michael Peña known for “Narcos: Mexico,” “End of Watch,” “Crash” and Marvel’s “Ant-Man” series. The film also stars Rosa Salazar (“Alita: Battle Angel,” “Maze Runner”), Bobby Soto (“Flamin’ Hot,” “Narcos: Mexico”), Sarayu Blue (“To All the Boys”), Veronica Falcon (“Ozark,” “Queen of the South”), Julio Cesar Cadillo (“Narcos: Mexico,” “Sicario”) and Garret Dillahunt (“Fear the Walking Dead,” “Raising Hope”).

Inspired by the real-life story of NASA flight engineer José Hernández, A Million Miles Away follows him and his devoted family of proud migrant farm workers on a decades-long journey, from a rural village in Michoacán, Mexico, to the fields of the San Joaquin Valley, to more than 200 miles above the Earth in the International Space Station. With the unwavering support of his hard-working parents, relatives, and teachers, José’s unrelenting drive & determination culminates in the opportunity to achieve his seemingly impossible goal. Acclaimed writer and director Alejandra Márquez Abella has created a dazzling tribute to the loyalty and tenacity of the entire Hernández family, as well as anyone who dares to dream.
