It’s the reunion you’ve been waiting for. An actor at the top of his game, teaming up with a director that launched him into superstardom. Get out the bottles of champagne because it’s time to celebrate! Okay, enough of that. We just wanted to make it seem like a huge deal that Aaron Taylor-Johnson was teaming up with director Matthew Vaughn for the new ‘Kingsman’ prequel film.
According to Daily Mail reporter Baz Bamigboye, Taylor-Johnson, along with Daniel Brühl, Charles Dance, Matthew Goode, Djimon Hounsou, and Alison Steadman have all been confirmed as members of the cast for the currently-in-production ‘Kingsman’ prequel titled ‘The Great Game.’ The prequel tells the story of the titular spy organization, but takes place a full 100 years before the events of the first two films. Makes sense, especially considering what happened to the Kingsman organization in the second film.
As alluded to, ‘The Great Game’ is a reunion for Taylor-Johnson and Vaughn, who previously worked together on the first “Kick-Ass” film way back in 2010 (feels like ages ago, right?). Since then, Vaughn has toiled around in the ‘Kingsman’ world and Taylor-Johnson flirted with the MCU in “Avengers: Age of Ultron” (aka the “bad” one).
Brühl, Dance, and Goode were all rumored to be part of the cast already. Hounsou is a new addition, but not a stranger to comic book properties, as a member of the MCU and soon to appear once again in “Captain Marvel.” And Steadman? Well, she’s an award-winning British actress with decades of quality productions under her belt.
Needless to say, combined with the previously announced cast of Ralph Fiennes, Harris Dickinson, and Rhys Ifans, it would appear that Vaughn has put together a pretty incredible cast.
“Kingsman: The Great Game” is set to be released on November 9.
