After gaining the attention of the indie world with her brave turn in the Aussie indie flick "Somersault," Abbie Cornish snagged the eyeballs of everyone else thanks to Jane Campion's ravishing "Bright Star." Since then, the actress has never been busier, and this year alone she appeared in three films: the spring hit "Limitless," Zack Snyder's "Sucker Punch" and Madonna's "W.E." And it doesn't stop there, as 2012 is already gearing up to be another packed year for Cornish. In addition to having the indie flick "The Girl" in the can, now a highly anticipated project has been added to her slate.
While it didn't exactly light up the box office, Martin McDonagh's "In Bruges" quickly became a movie you saw and then immediately told everyone you knew to watch. Well, he's back with a new movie, "Seven Psychopaths," and he's already amassed an impressive cast including Colin Farrell, Christopher Walken, Tom Waits, Sam Rockwell, Woody Harrelson and Olga Kurylenko. According to the New York Daily News, Cornish will add some estrogen to the set as well, joining the production. She's currently in Los Angeles filming, as The Film Stage note, she will be playing Kaya, Farrell's girlfriend.
The twisty tale centers on Billy (Rockwell), an unemployed actor and part-time dog thief who wants to help his best friend, struggling screenwriter Marty (Farrell), by any means necessary. He teams with Hans (Walken) and together they steal the beloved Shih Tzu of Charlie (Harrelson), who then goes on the hunt to find out who took his pet.
No word yet on a release, but we're guessing it's a safe bet for the festival circuit probably in the latter half of 2012. Either way, that's one helluva cast and we can't wait to see what they pull off.
