'The Act' Trailer: Series Based On A Shocking True Crime Stars Patricia Arquette As The World's Worst Mother

As Netflix has proven time and time again, true crime series are all the rage. Whether it’s lesser known cases like in “Making a Murderer” or the most notorious serial killer Ted Bundy, viewers can’t seem to get enough of their true crime. Well, Hulu is jumping into the fray with their own spin on true crime, with the upcoming limited series “The Act,” which tells the true story of a crime that reached nationwide coverage and sparked some serious debate.

As seen in the new trailer for “The Act,” the season delves into the story of Gypsy Rose Blanchard, a young, sick girl who is being cared for by her very loving mother. Or that’s what the mother would like you to think. You see, the Blanchards have a secret, and because of this secret, a crime is committed that would shock people around the country and begin a debate over what is considered self-defense.

The series stars Patricia Arquette as the over-bearing mother and Joey King as the young Gypsy. If you know anything about the actual story behind the series, then you know that both Arquette and King have really gone deep into changing themselves and their voices for the roles, in a great way. “The Act” has the potential to be another must-see Hulu show, which the streaming service has been slowly accumulating in recent years.
