Adam Driver Goes Undercover For Spike Lee ‘Black Klansman’

At 33 years old, Adam Driver has assembled of roster of auteurs he’s worked with that would be impressive for someone twice his age. The actor has crossed Clint Eastwood, Noah Baumbach, Steven Spielberg, the Coen Brothers, Rian Johnson, J.J. Abrams, Jeff Nichols, Jim Jarmusch, Martin Scorsese, Terry Gilliam, and Steven Soderbergh off the bucket list, and now he’s getting ready to scratch out another name.

Driver has joined Spike Lee’s provocatively titled “Black Klansman.” The project is the most promising movie from Lee for years, thanks in part to Jordan Peele lending his producer’s touch, fresh off “Get Out.”

The film will tell the true story of Ron Stallworth, an African-American detective in Colorado who infiltrated the local Ku Klux Klan, even becoming the head of the local chapter. John David Washington (yep, Denzel’s son) takes the lead role, with Driver playing anti-social but dedicated undercover from the Colorado Police force. Sounds about right.

Laura Harrier (“Spider-Man: Homecoming”) has also joined the cast, and we’re keeping our fingers crossed that this is a big return to form for Lee. Focus Features will be releasing the film, which we’d imagine we’ll see before 2018 is over. [Deadline]
