While his lengthy, syllable-heavy name likely means he one tossed around the household with ease anytime soon, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje is likely too busy impressing the hell out of audiences to care. Perhaps best known for playing Adebisi on "Oz" and Mr. Eko on "Lost," the actor is now gearing up to bring his commanding presence to one of next year's biggest movies.
Akinnuoye-Agbaje has snared the dual role of Algrim The Strong/Kurse in "Thor: The Dark World." One of the most powerful of the Dark Elves, in the comics, Algrim is tricked by Malekith into fighting Thor, but surives an attempt by the villain to kill them both. Malekith then decides to take advantage of Algrim's amnesia and refashions him into Kurse, a being who is two times as strong as Thor. Adding to his skills are his various supernatural powers thanks to being an elf, as well as having a sentient suit of armor that is practically a being unto itself. However, his weakness is iron. So, yes, Akinnoye-Agbaje has the stature and command to pull his off handsomely.
The actor joins a growing roster that includes new faces and old such as Chris Hemsworth, Natalie Portman, Anthony Hopkins, Tom Hiddleston, Idris Elba, Jaimie Alexander, Stellan Skarsgård, Rene Russo, Kat Dennings and Christopher Eccleston. Production is underway with Alan Taylor at the helm, and it will land on November 8, 2013. [Variety]
