It has been four years since Rosario Dawson’s former Jedi was left stranded in another galaxy, but Ahsoka Tano is finally preparing to finish what she started. Lucasfilm unveiled the first trailer for “Star Wars: Ahsoka” Season 2 during its D23 presentation, previewing the next chapter of Dave Filoni’s increasingly interconnected corner of the “Star Wars” universe.
Season 2 picks up after Ahsoka and her apprentice Sabine Wren were marooned on Peridea, while Grand Admiral Thrawn escaped into the primary galaxy and began rallying the remnants of the Empire against the New Republic. Their parallel stories will bring the series deeper into the mythology of the Mortis gods, whose presence was teased during Baylan Skoll’s final moments in the Season 1 finale.
Dawson returns alongside Natasha Liu Bordizzo as Sabine, Mary Elizabeth Winstead as Hera Syndulla, Eman Esfandi as Ezra Bridger, Ivanna Sakhno as Shin Hati, Lars Mikkelsen as Thrawn, and Hayden Christensen as Anakin Skywalker. Admiral Ackbar, Zeb, Chopper, Huyang, and Thrawn’s mysterious Captain Enoch will also appear during the eight-episode season.
Season 2 will notably introduce Rory McCann as Baylan, taking over the role originated by the late Ray Stevenson, who died shortly before the first season premiered. Filoni previously said he consulted Stevenson’s family before deciding to continue Baylan’s story, describing McCann’s approach as one rooted in respect for both the actor and the character he created.
Filoni wrote all eight episodes and returns as showrunner, while the season’s directors include Filoni, Bryce Dallas Howard, Jennifer Getzinger, and Anders Engström. Howard directed two installments. Filming began in the United Kingdom in April 2025 and wrapped that fall.
The first season effectively continued several unresolved stories from the animated “Star Wars Rebels,” but the arrival of Thrawn positioned the series as a larger bridge to Filoni’s planned theatrical crossover involving characters from the so-called “MandoVerse.”
