And here we thought Peak TV had reached its proverbial…peak. We forgot all about Al Pacino.
That’s right, the Oscar-winning actor, and just all-around Hollywood legend, Al Pacino is poised to make the leap to the episodic TV side of the business thanks to none other than Jordan Peele. Yes, we have officially reached the peak of the Peak TV mountain and it’s only going to be downhill from here, everybody. Enjoy it while it lasts.
Deadline is reporting that Pacino is in final negotiations to star in the upcoming series “The Hunt,” which is scheduled to debut sometime in the future on Amazon Prime Video. The actor will sign on to appear in the 10-episode season, and will star in the series which is said to be about good ol’ Nazi-hunting.

Pacino joins previously announced cast member Logan Lerman in the project. “The Hunt” follows a group of Nazi hunters in 1977 New York City. The Hunters, as they’re called, discover that hundreds of former Nazis are living among us and are planning some sort of new genocide. Together, they…uhhh, hunt these Nazis and bring them to justice. Lerman plays a young man that sets out on a quest for vengeance after his grandmother is slain by a mysterious intruder. He discovers the group called The Hunters and is taken under the wing of Pacino’s character, who will mentor him.
This isn’t Pacino’s first foray into the world of TV. He’s previously starred in a variety of TV films, including most recently in “Paterno.” He’s also appeared in limited series such as “Angels in America.” But “The Hunt” marks his debut in a full, episodic, serialized TV series.

“The Hunt” comes from the mind of David Weil, who wrote the series and will executive produce alongside Nikki Toscano. Obviously, Peele’s Monkeypaw Productions will handle the producing duties.
There’s no word on a release date, but with the scope of the series, and casting underway, it’s unlikely “The Hunt” will see its release in 2019. But with Pacino on board, we’re willing to wait a little while longer.
