So “Alice In Wonderland” is gonna rock with emo, punk-pop madness, yeah? Yeah! God, though one must assume that most of this music won’t be featured in the movie outside of the credits, that is unless Tim Burton has completely lost his mind.
This album, called, Almost Alice, sounds like an “inspired-by” soundtrack and will hit shelves March 2nd (in fact, the press release says more “re-imagining songs from the Disney classic,” so yeah, don’t worry, 95% of this probably won’t be in the film. A video for the soundtrack’s first single, “Alice (Underground)” by Avril Lavigne, is due in early February (which probably means she’ll be the song in the credits, either that or the last track which looks like it’s a cover of Jefferson Airplane’s “White Rabbit” performed by Grace Potter and the Nocturnals).
Either way it sounds like a horrible idea and one of those cheap, cash-grab tie-ins made by the studio and record label. The album features — you know music that screams Alice In Wonderland — Avril Lavigne, The All-American Rejects, Postal Service rip-off outfit, Owl City, All Time Low, Mark Hoppus with Pete Wentz (from Blink 182 and Fallout Boy respectively) Robert Smith from the Cure, etc. Are we sure they didn’t confuse this with the soundtrack to “Jersey Shore” or “Teen Mom Is Pregnant”? Maybe your kid sister will want this for her birthday, cause we’re sure even ‘Alice’ star Mia Waskikowska doesn’t listen to this junk.
