Without a doubt, one of the most anticipated TV projects of 2024 is Noah Hawley’s ‘Alien’ series for FX. Not only is it a big-budget prequel series in the beloved sci-fi/horror franchise, but it’s also coming from one of the most respected and acclaimed TV creators working today. It can’t miss, right? Well, one thing we know is the casting is pretty spot-on.
According to Deadline, Noah Hawley has cast Timothy Olyphant in one of the lead roles of his upcoming ‘Alien’ prequel series. The report claims Olyphant will play a synth character who is a mentor and trainer for Wendy, played by Sydney Chandler. In the series, Wendy is a human character with the brain and consciousness of a child but the body of an adult. The ‘Alien’ series is actually not set in space, instead taking place on Earth before the events of the first film, about 70 years in the future.
Olyphant is no stranger to FX. In addition to his most recent role in “Justified: City Primeval,” the sequel series to his beloved “Justified,” the actor also appeared in Season 4 of Hawley’s acclaimed “Fargo” series. So, it makes sense that he would reteam with the network and the creator he has shared so much history with.
Joining Olyphant and Chandler in the cast are Alex Lawther as a soldier named CJ, Samuel Blenkin as Boy Kavalier, a CEO, Essie Davis as Dame Silvia, Adarsh Gourav as Slightly, and Kit Young as Tootles.
Filming on the ‘Alien’ prequel was interrupted due to the recent SAG strike, but it is still expected to arrive sometime in late-2024.
