There are certain things you can expect from a James Cameron film. There’s going to be visuals that knock your socks off. You’re going to see technology used in some amazing way that elevates the content on the screen. And you’re going to have a score that adds to the overall “epic” feeling of the project. Even though Cameron didn’t direct “Alita: Battle Angel,” as a writer and producer, the filmmaker brings all of that to the film, including a pulse-pounding, epic score.
And in honor of the film heading to theaters in less than a month, we’re proud to give our readers a chance to hear an exclusive track from the ‘Alita’ score, courtesy of Junkie XL, aka Tom Holkenborg. For those not familiar with the composer’s previous works, Holkenborg is probably best known for his work on films like “Deadpool,” “Mad Max: Fury Road,” and most recently, “Mortal Engines.” And as you can hear in the track “The Warrior Within” from ‘Alita,’ the composer is once again on the top of his game.
“Alita: Battle Angel” tells the story of a young cyborg woman named Alita that awakens with no memory of her past. She’s taken in by a friendly doctor and goes on a quest to discover who she is and where she comes from. And since this is a film from producer James Cameron and director Robert Rodriguez, you can expect some crazy action, unlike anything you’ve seen before.
The film hits theaters on Valentine’s Day, February 14, with the score being released on February 15, courtesy of Milan Records.
