Not to be confused with "Broken City," directed by his brother Allen Hughes, Albert Hughes is gearing up for "Motor City" and his film has now found its female lead.
With a schedule now freed up thanks to the cancelation of "The Playboy Club" on NBC (how a network could screw up getting viewers for a show about Playboy bunnies is beyond us), Heard has beat out a handful of unnamed contenders to star opposite Dominic Cooper in the picture. Penned by Chad St. John, the hotly buzzed 2009 Black List script follows a small-time crook who is framed and sent to jail, and then goes after the guys that put him there. Sound like a movie you've seen a million times before? Well the twist here is that Cooper only has one line of dialogue in the whole thing. And we're pretty sure it's not, "These pretzels are making me thirsty."
Can't say we have anything to argue about in regards to Heard's casting. She's a pretty face that has also proven she can stand toe-to-toe with Nicolas Cage at his zaniest, Seth Rogen at his most high and Johnny Depp at his most suave (and you can believe it when she stops the actor dead in his tracks with a barely there dress in "The Rum Diary"). Hopefully she'll have something more to do here than look attractive, but if that's all that's required, she can do that too. [Deadline]
