Earlier today, the internet was abuzz with questions surrounding a cryptic post by rapper 21 Savage and actor Donald Glover. The image shared was seemingly a poster for a film titled, “American Dream: The 21 Savage Story,” with Glover, 21 Savage, and actor Caleb McLaughlin appearing. As you might expect, people were confused. Is this a joke? Is it a real film? Well, we got a new piece of evidence in the form of a “trailer”… or is it just a music video?

21 Savage has released a “trailer” for the film “American Dream: The 21 Savage Story,” and it definitely makes good on what was teased earlier. Donald Glover and Caleb McLaughlin both appear as versions of the rapper in the video. And though it has the Lionsgate logo at the beginning, it sure doesn’t look like much of a trailer. Instead, it just feels like a music video. But that still isn’t enough to conclusively say there’s actually no real film coming.
Also joining Glover and McLaughlin in the cast of the video are Natasha Lyonne, Jabari Banks, Victoria Pedretti, Chad Lindberg, and Gail Bean. The “trailer” is directed by Stephen Glover, Jamal Olori, and Fam Udeorji.
Again, it has to be said, there very well could be a real film coming titled “American Dream: The 21 Savage Story.” And it very well could feature that incredible cast of actors. Or, it just might be a great marketing tool used by a rapper who is trying to capitalize on a bit of controversy but confusing the audience into believing a real, big-budget film is coming, but instead, it’s just a highly-produced music video. Regardless, it’s working.
