‘A Knight Of The Seven Kingdoms’: George R.R. Martin Reveals Season 2 Already In The Works & Praises ‘Game Of Thrones’ Spinoff Series

The world of “Game of Thrones” is expanding beyond the next season of “The House of The Dragon” at HBO with “A Knight of The Seven Kingdoms,” the latter being an adaptation of George R.R. Martin‘s “Tales of Dunk & Egg” stories also known as “The Hedge Knight” novellas.

HBO has yet to announce when in 2025 we’ll see “A Knight of The Seven Kingdoms” debut, but Martin is revealing to Collider (while promoting “In The Lost Lands” in Santa Fe) that work is already happening on a second season. This news would be a clear indication that HBO is happy with what they’ve done as Martin has watched the entire first season, which he also calls “great.”

“I’ve seen ‘Dunk and Egg,’ the first season, and it’s great,” Martin said while speaking to Collider, “and now they’re working on the second season. Those are two characters were really special to me, and they’re unusual, those characters. They’re not what most people would expect in a fantasy story.” 

The cast assembled for the fantasy series includes Peter Claffey as Ser Duncan The Tall (Dunk, The Hedge Knight), Dexter Sol Ansell as Egg (Prince Aegon Targaryen) Finn Bennett as Aerion Targaryen, Bertie Carvel as Baelor Targaryen, Tanzyn Crawford as Tanselle, Daniel Ings as Ser Lyonel Baratheon, and Sam Spruell as Maekar Targaryen.

HBO’s official logline reads:

A century before the events of “Game of Thrones,” two unlikely heroes wandered Westeros… a young, naïve but courageous knight, Ser Duncan the Tall, and his diminutive squire, Egg. Set in an age when the Targaryen line still holds the Iron Throne, and the memory of the last dragon has not yet passed from living memory, great destinies, powerful foes, and dangerous exploits all await these improbable and incomparable friends.

Speaking of “House of The Dragon,” the third season has only just started filming which means the timing of “Knight” will certainly give audiences more Westeros adventures and Targaryens to explore before those “Dragon” episodes are ready to air.

We’ve only seen a glimpse of the new string of episodes (six in all) set in the world of “Game of Thrones” and we’re hopeful a full series trailer for “A Knight of The Seven Kingdoms” is just around the corner alongside a release date from HBO.
