Amy Adams To Star In Adam McKay’s New Netflix Series About Walmart

Are you ready for the second story today about Amy Adams and Netflix? After an earlier report that the actress’ new film, “The Woman in the Window,” is likely heading to Netflix after being sold by Disney, it appears Adams is ready to do business with the streaming giant once more with a new series produced and directed by Adam McKay.

According to THR, Adams is set to star in and executive produce “Kings of America,” a new drama series for Netflix about three women who find their lives coming together due to their connections with retail giant, Walmart. The actress will play one of the leads in a series that follows a Walmart heiress, an executive, and a saleswoman that collide after a class action lawsuit is filed against the corporation.

“Kings of America” is produced by McKay, who is also expected to direct the first episode. Jess Kimball Leslie is onboard as creator, writer, and producer alongside Diana Son (“13 Reasons Why”) who will serve as producer and showrunner.

This isn’t the first time that Amy Adams has teamed up with McKay. Previously, the duo worked together on the comedy film “Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby.” Most recently, Adams co-starred in McKay’s latest feature, “Vice,” which earned her an Oscar nomination for her role.

“Kings of America” is just one of several projects McKay is currently developing. In addition to this Netflix series, he’s working on a basketball drama for HBO, a remake of “Parasite (also for HBO), a limited series about the Coronavirus, a film titled “The Menu,” as well as a feature film that he is set to direct with an all-star cast titled “Don’t Look Up.” Obviously, McKay is a bit of a workaholic.

It’s unclear when production on “Kings of America” might begin, but with this level of talent involved, clearly this is one of the bigger productions Netflix is currently developing, so we have to assume this will be a priority.
