'Angry Birds 2' Trailer: The Flock's About To Take Flight

Just in time for “How to Train Your Dragon,” the most anticipated movie of the weekend, the first trailer for “Angry Birds 2” takes flight.

On an island populated by happy, flightless birds, there lives Red, Chuck, and Bomb. In the first “Angry Birds Movie” we thought we were just going to find out why the birds were so angry, but instead, the aforementioned outcasts were on a mission. When their island was visited by mysterious green pigs, the trio set out to find out what the pigs are up to. Now, as highlighted by the trailer, the birds are on a new mission. This time facing the ruler of the green piggies.

In the summer of 2017, production designer Pete Oswald stated in an interview with the Indian Express, “I can’t tell you too much about the story details or anything specific at this time, unfortunately. But what I can assure you is that we will be spending a lot of time with these lovable characters and hopefully meeting some new ones and going to new places which I’m really excited about.”

The film features the voices of Jason Sudeikis, Josh Gad, Danny McBride, Leslie Jones, Sterling K. Brown, Eugenio Derbez, Zach Woods, Awkwafina, Lil Rel Howery, Dove Cameron, Beck Bennett, Bill Hader, Nicki Minaj, and Peter Dinklage.

The film is directed by Thurop Van Orman and co-directed by John Rice. The pic is produced by John Cohen and co-produced by Mary Ellen Bauder Andrews. David Maisel and Catherine Winder are executive producers. Sony Pictures Imageworks has handled the animation.

“Angry Birds” grossed $350 million worldwide, including $107.5 million domestically, in 2016.
