Anne Hathaway, Helen Mirren, Morgan Freeman, Anthony Mackie & More Join Amazon's 'Solos' Series

The beauty of having an anthology series is that you can cast some big names, only have them for an episode and not worry about trying to get an A-lister to commit to a months-long television shoot. And if you’re Amazon, you have the money to spend on some truly massive names for the upcoming anthology series “Solos.”

According to Deadline, Amazon has landed a cast that includes Morgan Freeman, Anne Hathaway, Helen Mirren, Uzo Aduba, Nicole Beharie, Anthony Mackie, Dan Stevens, and Constance Wu to star in the upcoming series, “Solos.” The series comes from creator David Weil, who is the man behind the recent hit drama, “Hunters.” “Solos” aims to tell the story of human connection through seven episodes that take place from a different point of view and time period, but somehow all show that we are all connected through the human experience.

While it would be pretty incredible to see those actors all appear on screen together, you can’t deny the star power that even an anthology series with these names will have. You have absolute legends such as Morgan Freeman and Helen Mirren. Then you have critically-acclaimed actors that have yet to really break out in a massive way such as Nicole Beharie, Uzo Aduba, and Dan Stevens. Then there’s Constance Wu, who is famous for her TV work but had an acclaimed role in the recent film “Hustlers.” Oh and let’s not forget powerhouses like Anne Hathaway and Anthony Mackie, who are two of the biggest names in Hollywood right now thanks to their massive film roles in blockbusters.

In an age where streaming services are owned by companies with seemingly limitless bank accounts, it shouldn’t be a total surprise that we see casts like this signed on for projects. However, it still is surprising when you see star power all come together for one project, even today.

It’s unclear when “Solos” will arrive on Amazon Prime Video, but the report claims it will hit the platform before the end of the year.
