Though apparently being one of the worst scripts in recent history — so we’ve heard — work persists on bringing back “He-Man” to the big screen. Warner Bros. and Silver Pictures have hired yet another writer to do another pass at the script called, “Grayskull.” They’re seemingly so desperate they’ve hired Evan Daugherty, a scribe whose only writing credit so far is the unproduced screenplay “Shrapnel” which he wrote on a NYU film-school grant. John Stevenson (“Kung Fu Panda”) is still set to make his live action directorial debut, whenever they can get to a place where the script isn’t entirely embarrassing (i.e. good enough for Nerd-standards which are generally a slight notch above “Wolverine,” which most geeks thought was “ok”).

Is Sean “Diddy” Combs’ record producer character in Judd Apatow/Russell Brand’s “Get Him To The Greek,” supposed to be a thinly veiled version of thuggish, beating-inclined record producer Suge Knight? Here’s some shots of the rapper/producer extraordinaire putting a beat down on Irish actor Colm Meaney in the film. Also, Colm Meaney is in the film. [Just Jared]
Regal British filmmaker Kenneth Branagh has begun teasing Marvel fans by telling them that casting announcements for his norse-god film “Thor” are imminent and in the “final stages.” He doesn’t give any clues, but says they’ve been holding out on talk of potential thesps out of respect for the actors. “Final stages” probably means two months away rather than six, but we’re hopefully wrong as we’re at least curious how bad they might fuck up the film. Apparently the strange reason why The Beastie Boys’ ’90s song “Sabotage” was featured in the futuristic “Star Trek” J.J.Abrams prequel is because the filmmaker was trying to make a small fan-based in-joke at the fact that William Shatner cannot pronounce the word sabotage to save his life. Amusing J.J., but uh… congratulations? [Vulture]
Sylvester Stallone’s “The Expendables” action B-movie apparently has a scene in it where Sylvester Stallone hangs onto an airplane for dear life. Coooool. [AICN]
Stellar Adler-method-trained thespians Jean Claude Van Damme and Vinnie Jones will star alongside each other in “Weapon,” a film about rival assassins. Remember JCVD turned down Stallone for “The Expendables,” so he could take on… more challenging work? [THR]
