The most recent "Ant-Man" poster was shockingly not well received by fans, who claimed it was some kind of Photoshop-produced disaster of floating heads. I’m not sure how that differed from any of the other previous Marvel posters that featured poorly Photoshopped floating heads crammed together, but I digress. At any rate, Marvel is trying something different with this latest one-sheet, and I’d argue the result is far worse.
This latest promo for the movie has our hero riding on the back of some kind of insect weaving between bullets. Get it? Because he’s Ant-Man. It’s not the most convincing drawing job on the planet, nor is it all that exciting, at least in the way you’d expect from Marvel. In the studio’s defense, trying to promote a character who when in action is barely visible can’t be easy. And for those expecting the movie to bomb, don’t get out the knives just yet. The same variety of shit-talking around "Ant-Man" accompanied "Guardians Of The Galaxy" and that turned out not only to be a monster hit but one of the most beloved blockbusters of recent years. "Ant-Man" won’t be as big, but if it does numbers similar to the first "Thor" movie, the studio will probably be more than happy.
"Ant-Man" arrives on July 17th. [via Comic Book]
