The report claims that Mackie will star as John Doe, a man given the chance to have a better life if he agrees to transport a mysterious package across the post-apocalyptic wasteland. The only problem? He’s going to be facing off against a bunch of psychopaths in cars that are out to kill him, including an evil clown in an ice cream truck named Sweet Tooth.

As mentioned, this isn’t the first TV rodeo for Mackie. This year, he’s already starred in the aforementioned Marvel Studios streaming series, “The Falcon and the Winter Soldier.” Previously, he also starred in Season 2 of “Altered Carbon” for Netflix. He’s not afraid of tackling genre projects and seems perfectly suited for them.

No release date has been set for “Twisted Metal.” The series is written by Michael Jonathan Smith, who will also produce alongside “Deadpool” writers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick.
