'Aquaman' Enlists 'Mad Max: Fury Road' Stunt Team

One of the biggest questions surrounding the upcoming Warner Bros. film, “Aquaman,” is just how the underwater segments are going to work. Is Aquaman going to speak underwater? Are they going to use a lot of practical effects or will the actors do everything with green screen? And, maybe most importantly, will the action scenes actually look good? Well, you can rest easy on that last question because we now know that the award-winning stunt team behind “Mad Max: Fury Road” is going to handle the stunt work.

Speaking to Australia’s 9 News, stunt coordinator Keir Beck talked about what his team is working on, and he mentioned training for “Aquaman.” Other than practicing the standard stunt skills and fighting, he said the stunt team will “obviously [need to be] capable and confident in the water.” While we have yet to see how these stunts are going to look, it’s clear that WB wants the best possible crew working on the film.

Beck’s team has been universally praised with their work on “Mad Max: Fury Road,” winning the Screen Actors Guild Award for their efforts on George Miller‘s film. Since then, Beck has also worked on such films as Mel Gibson’sHacksaw Ridge” and Shane Black’sThe Nice Guys.”

“Aquaman” is set to begin filming soon with James Wan attached to direct. Jason Momoa, Amber Heard, Patrick Wilson, and Willem Dafoe are all set to star in the film.

“Aquaman” opens on October 5, 2018.
