‘Archenemy’ Trailer: Joe Manganiello Is A Cosmic Crusader Looking To Do Some Good

YA author Ann Aguirre wrote in her 2008 novel “Grimspace” that “Sometimes you find your heroes in the unlikeliest places.” She certainly meant finding strength in oneself, but it also rings true when it comes to one of the greatest heroes in the fictional realm. Superman isn’t from Earth but look how hard he’s fought and will continue to fight on behalf of the human race. Now, a new good guy is about drop-in, quite similar to the way the Man of Steel made his presence felt. Time to prepare for Max Fist in “Archenemy.”

Directing the project is Adam Egypt Mortimer (“Daniel Isn’t Real”). He is also behind the film’s story and co-wrote the screenplay with Lucas Passmore. Additionally, the movie sports an impressive number of producers and includes Elijah Wood and main star Joe Manganiello in that role.

Speaking of Manganiello, he’s been quite busy as of late in the genre. Audiences will be able to watch his portrayal of Max Fist in this project before they can take in his subsequent appearance as Slade Wilson a.k.a. Deathstroke in the much-anticipated “Zach Snyder’s Justice League” next year. Standing by Fist’s side is Skylan Brooks (“Empire” & “The Inevitable Defeat of Mister & Pete”) as Hamster. Zolee Griggs (“Wu-Tang: An American Saga”), Amy Seimetz (“Pet Sematary” & “Alien: Covenant”), and Glenn Howerton (“It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia” & “The Hunt”) also star.

Here’s the synopsis:

Max Fist (Manganiello) claims to be a hero from another dimension who fell through time and space to Earth, where he has no powers. No one believes his stories except for a local teen named Hamster. Together, they take to the streets to wipe out the local drug syndicate and its vicious crime boss known as The Manager.

“Archenemy”—distributed by RLJE Films—will be released in theaters, on-demand, and in digital on December 11. Check out the trailer below and look to the skies. It’s no bird. It’s no plane. It’s Max Fist bringing the fight once again!
