Four years ago, allegations cannibalism-laced accusations of sexual assault transformed actor Armie Hammer into persona non grata in Hollywood overnight. But now, after an LAPD investigation into his behavior and Hammer laying low in the Cayman Island, his unlikely industry comeback may be imminent. At least that’s what Hammer would like us to believe.

IndieWire reports that Hammer announced on the “Your Mom’s House” podcast that he may have two more upcoming projects in addition to his onscreen acting return, “Frontier Crucible,” with William H. Macy and Thomas Jane. “The worm is turning right and it takes time,” the actor told hosts Tom Segura and Christina Pazsitzky. “It’s slow, but generally now the conversation when my name comes up with people in the industry is, ‘Man, that guy got fucked,’ and that feels really good. It’s really encouraging.”
So what are these two other projects? Hammer confirmed that he has “two more movies coming up” along with “Frontier Crucicble.” And there’s also “a potential TV show” that the actor claims a “head of a studio” personally signed off on for him. Compared to a couple of years ago, when Hammer’s acting career was all but over and was selling timeshares on The Cayman Islands, the actor claimed he’s now “turning jobs down.” “My dance card’s getting pretty full,” he continued. “That first job that I turned down after four years of this shit, I mean, it was the best feeling in the world.”
Hammer also addressed in the interview the accusations against him involving his so-called cannibalism and interest in BDSM. “I think somewhere deep down subconsciously I wanted to get caught,” Hammer said. “I think that I so did not relate to the image of me that was out there in the public of like, ‘Look at them, they’re like the Ralph Lauren family, they’ve got the perfect life and the perfect house and the perfect kids.” For the actor, what happened four years ago was a necessary way to upend his life. “I was like, I feel like a f*cking alien walking around most of the time. I don’t feel like a human, I feel like a creature.”
No word yet on when “Frontier Crucible” will reach audiences, but shooting on the project began last November. As for the three other projects Hammer mentions on “Your Mom’s House,” stay tuned for more details. But if what Hammer said on the podcast is true, then the most unlikely career resurgence since Robert Downey Jr.’s may have actually happened.
