In the film categories “La La Land” took the Comedy Film honor while “Arrival” upset “Moonlight,” “Manchester by the Sea,” “Hacksaw Ridge” and “Hell or High Water” to win the Dramatic equivalent. “Zootopia” took Animated Film and “O.J.: Made in America” earned the Documentary prize.
Among the television winners “Veep” earned the Half-Hour Series award while “This Is Us” upset three different nominated episodes of “Better Call Saul” (well, perhaps it wasn’t an upset) in the One-Hour Series- Commercial category. “Game of Thrones” took out stiff competition from “The Crown,” “Westworld” and two “Stranger Things” episodes for the One-Hour Series-Non-Commercial honor. “All the Way” also surprised in the Mini-Series or TV Movie category marking one of the few times “The People vs. O.J Simpson: American Crime Story” hasn’t taken home an industry honor.
