‘Athena’ Teaser: Romain Gavras’ Tragic Tale Of Three Siblings Is Coming To Netflix

From French filmmaker, Romain Gavras comes chaos like no other, as “Athena” tells the tragic tale of three siblings in unexplained circumstances. Romain Gavras is known for his work on music videos for popular musicians like Kanye West, Jay-Z, and M.I.A. Gavras has also worked on films like “The World is Yours” and “Burke and Hare.”

“Athena” is written by Gavras, and Ladj Ly, best known for his work on the 2019 feature film “Les Misérables.” “Athena” will star Dali Benssalah, best known for his work in the James Bond movie “No Time to Die.” Benssalah’s upcoming project “The Last Queen” has entered post-production and will be inspired by the legendary Princess Zaphire. The full cast for “Athena” includes Anthony Bajon, Sami Slimane, Ouassini Embarek, and Alexis Manenti.

Hours after the tragic death of their youngest brother in unexplained circumstances, three siblings have their lives thrown into chaos.  

Gavras has always been around film and all things theater, with his father Costa-Gavras being a Greek filmmaker and his mother Michèle Ray-Gavras being a film producer and French journalist. And it doesn’t stop there; Romain’s siblings Julia and Alexandre are also filmmakers. 

Netflix and Gavras have partnered together to release the film worldwide in September. You can watch the teaser below:
