Welcome to another edition of The Playlist Podcast, a discussion about film news and other film and television related items.
I’m joined as always by Playlist Editor-in-Chief Rodrigo Perez to cover the most topical discussions going on in the film community. Of course, there is one topic that is – and will for at least a couple weeks – dominating the conversation: “Avengers: Infinity War.”
The third “Avengers” film – and nineteenth(!) film overall in the Marvel Cinematic Universe – is the culmination of ten years of long-form storytelling, and for fans, expectations couldn’t be higher. On this episode, Rod and I first dive into our initial spoiler-free thoughts (For more insight, read Rod’s “B+” review here), as well as some of the MCU movies we re-watched in anticipation for the film (mostly the “backbone films” of “Captain America: The Winter Soldier,” “Avengers: Age of Ultron,” and “Captain America: Civil War“), and our box office predictions for the film. At 24:31, we get into a ***MASSIVE SPOILER DISCUSSION*** about “Infinity War.” We recognize that most of the general public has not gotten a chance to see the film, and there’s a lot that we discuss in the first 24:30 that is substantial and completely spoiler-free. However, at 24:31 – like the film itself – all bets are off, so be sure to come back and listen to the rest of the episode once you have seen the film.
