Amy Adams Signs On For Joe Wright's New Hitchcockian Thriller 'The Woman In The Window'

After 2015’s “Pan,” filmmaker Joe Wright needed a film that would get rid of that awful Peter Pan-meets-Nirvana taste out of peoples’ mouths. Thankfully, that film was “Darkest Hour.” The Gary Oldman-led film was nominated for tons of awards and gave Joe Wright the comeback film he needed. No more are we haunted by Rooney Mara’s Tiger Lily. Now, for his “Darkest Hour” follow-up, the director has enlisted Amy Adams and they’re going for something that is best described as Hitchcockian.

Deadline is reporting that Amy Adams has signed on for the film “The Woman in the Window,” to be directed by Joe Wright. The film, based on the incredibly popular novel of the same name, tells the story of an agoraphobic woman named Anna, trapped in her own home, who witnesses what she thinks might be a crime committed across the street. Being a huge fan of classic films, specifically those of Alfred Hitchcock, Anna must decide what to do next.

Adams was only in one film in 2017, the awful “Justice League.” However, before that, in 2016, she was nominated for numerous awards for her roles in “Nocturnal Animals” and “Arrival.” Next, the actress will be seen in the HBO series, “Sharp Objects,” based on the novel by writer Gillian Flynn and directed by Jean-Marc Vallée, coming off his work on the award-winning series “Big Little Lies.”

“The Woman in the Window” is written by Tracy Letts, who is best known for his acting roles, as well as writing films such as “August: Osage County, “Bug,” and “Killer Joe.” Wright, as mentioned above, is responsible for “Pan” and “Darkest Hour,” but is also the man behind “Atonement,” “Hanna,” and “Pride & Prejudice.”

No word on a release date, but “The Woman in the Window” is shaping up to be a thriller we’ll have to keep our eyes on.
