The British Academy Film Awards released their longlist for the top films of 2008, and Ron Howard’s Frost/Nixon” and David Fincher’s “The Curious Case of Benjamin Button” came out of top, with 14 nominations each.
Danny Boyle’s “Slumdog Millionaire,” “The Reader,” “Revolutionary Road,” “Changling” and “The Dark Knight” each scored 13 nominations apiece while Gus Van Sants “Milk,” and the Coens Brothers demented comedy, “Burn After Reading” came away with 11.
While some Oscar contending films were buried in nominations, others went a little under the radar. Such as Darren Aronofsky’s minimalistic “The Wrestler” which got a respectable nine, while “I’ve Loved You So Long” came away with only five, while being out performed by arguably inferior films.
