Sure, we’ve already had “The Continental” TV show, but that series came and went without much fanfare. Honestly, it feels as if the upcoming ‘Ballerina’ is the true first spinoff of the “John Wick” franchise. Especially, considering everyone who is involved.

At this past weekend’s CCXP event, Lionsgate was there to promote the upcoming release of “From the World of John Wick: Ballerina” (terrible title). While there, the studio released a behind-the-scenes featurette that not only showcased everyone who is involved with the spinoff film, but it also showed some never-before-seen footage from the film. And yes, there’s quite a bit of Keanu Reeves.
The cast includes Ana de Armas, Anjelica Huston, Gabriel Byrne, Lance Reddick, Catalina Sandino Moreno, Norman Reedus, Ian McShane, and Keanu Reeves. The film is directed by Len Wiseman.
There’s a little bit of controversy surrounding the direction of the film. It’s been widely reported that Chad Stahelski came aboard to help with reshoots on the film. However, rumors have said that not only did the “John Wick” director help guide the shoots, but he actually directed them himself. Obviously, that’s not something the studio will confirm.
“From the World of John Wick: Ballerina” arrives in theaters on June 6. You can watch the new featurette below.
Here’s the synopsis:
Taking place during the events of John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum, the film follows Eve Macarro (Ana de Armas) who is beginning her training in the assassin traditions of the Ruska Roma.
