Barack Obama Names 'Aftersun,' 'Top Gun 2,' 'Emily The Criminal' & More As His Favorite Films Of 2022

We say this every year when we talk about Barack Obama’s annual list of his favorite films, but the former President of the United States actually has pretty great taste in cinema. For 2022, Barack Obama, once again, delivers a list with some of the best films of the year. There are films that are sure-thing Oscars favorites, such as “Everything Everywhere All at Once,” “Top Gun: Maverick,” “Tar,” and “The Fabelmans.” But he also takes the time to name-check some of the films that the average moviegoer might not be aware of.

You have to imagine that someone out there reading his tweet will then do a quick search for “Decision to Leave” and be blown away by Park Chan-wook’s latest film. Or maybe “Emily the Criminal” will once again get a push on Netflix because Obama recommends it. And something like “Aftersun” will get much-deserved recognition for people outside of Film Twitter, just as Charlotte Wells’ family drama hits VOD.
