Ben Affleck and 'The Accountant' Director Gavin O’Connor Reteam on ‘The Has-Been’

Ben Affleck and filmmaker Gavin O’Connor have both been pretty active over at Warner Bros. Affleck, of course, has been busy with the role of Bruce Wayne, aka Batman, in films like ‘Batman v. Superman’ and “Justice League.” However, the actor teamed with O’Connor recently to bring us the most rented movie of 2017, “The Accountant.” Now, it appears that they’re re-teaming for a new drama titled “The Has-Been.”

According to Deadline, the script is written by Brad Ingelsby and centers on a former basketball all-star, who has lost his wife and family foundation in a struggle with addiction. He attempts to regain his soul and salvation by becoming the coach of a disparate ethnically mixed high school basketball team at his alma mater. Affleck, who is currently working on “Triple Frontier” for Netflix, would play the former basketball star.

Affleck would also produce “The Has-Been” alongside  Jennifer Todd, Mark Ciardi, and Gordon Grey, with O’Connor also expected to be involved as a producer.  Along with the sequel to “The Accountant” and “The Has-Been” O’Connor has been developing a sequel to “Suicide Squad” for WB. That film is scheduled to go into production later this year. So, we’ll have to see how “The Has-Been” fits into his already busy schedule.

As mentioned above, Affleck and O’Connor’s “The Accountant” was a modest hit for WB when it was released in 2016. Before that, the director was best known for his 2011 underrated, breakout film, “Warrior,” which starred Tom Hardy and Joel Edgerton as mixed martial arts fighters.
