'Ben-Hur' Rides Into Battle In New Trailer

Ben-Hur” may be based on one of the greatest stories ever told, but man, does anyone actually want to see this movie? Sure, there’s a faith based crowd that will probably show up, but for mainstream audiences, I can’t imagine a movie that’s as least anticipated as this.

Jack Huston and Toby Kebbell lead this take on the famous brotherly battle that has already inspired a couple of movie versions, that frankly, are probably better than this one directed by Timur Bekmambetov. Here’s the official synopsis:

BEN-HUR is the epic story of Judah Ben-Hur (Jack Huston), a prince falsely accused of treason by his adopted brother Messala (Toby Kebbell), an officer in the Roman army. Stripped of his title, separated from his family and the woman he loves (Nazanin Boniadi), Judah is forced into slavery. After years at sea, Judah returns to his homeland to seek revenge, but finds redemption. Based on Lew Wallace’s timeless novel, Ben-Hur: A Tale of the Christ.

Co-starring Morgan Freeman, Rodrigo Santoro, Nazanin Boniadi, Ayelet Zurer, and Sofia Black D’Elia, the film opens on August 19th.
