Given the continuing and nearly exhausting conversation around “Suicide Squad,” you might be feeling like a break from superheroes for a while, but you’re not going to get much of a reprieve. Marvel is gearing up for a busy fall, with Netflix dropping “Luke Cage” next month, and “Doctor Strange” arriving on the big screen in November. And the latter is something of an interesting experiment for the comic-book studio: a property like “Ant-Man” and “Guardians Of The Galaxy” that might be better known to diehard fans than casual moviegoers. Marvel has already proven that’s a hurdle they can overcome without a problem; however, the message of just who exactly “Doctor Strange” is and what his abilities are is still proving to be tricky.

It’s something that Benedict Cumberbatch addresses in a recent chat with EW, with the actor getting a finer sense of the titular character he portrays.
“A lot of people have asked me, ‘What makes him a superhero?’ That’s really the answer I should have given. It’s not the Cloak of Levitation. It’s not the Eye of Agamotto. It’s about his staying power. It’s a marathon and not a sprint. The guy endures so much,” he said about Doctor Strange’s journey from New York to Nepal, from ordinary man to a person with mystical powers.
“Doctor Strange” arrives on November 4th.
